The Power Of AuduBon

Working together, Audubon's many parts and people achieve success beyond what any one could accomplish alone.

PRESERVING A PRECIOUS WILDERNESS

Audubon state offices, policy experts, and grassroots activists united to help spur a crucial federal decision to defer oil and gas drilling in Alaska's Teshekpuk werlands for at least ten years, saving nesting areas for more than a million migratory birds. We'll continue to work together to make the temporary reprieve into permanent protection.

OPENING NEW EYES TO NATURE WITH NEW CENTERS For many today, the combination of hectic lives and disappearing natural places can add up to a growing disconnect from nature. That's why Audubon is working with partners across the country to ensure that more people have the opportunity to get outside and learn about the natural world at one of our Audubon Centers. Visit our newest Centers in Dallas, TX; Columbus, OH; Phoenix, AZ; and Little Rock, AR or any of our more than 40 Centers that stretch from Maine to California. Each is a community hub for nature education, recreation, and conservation.

COUNTING THAT COUNTS

Tens of thousands of citizen scientists will take part in Audubon's 111th annual Christmas Bird Count. Data collected by these dedicated volunteers is vital to the State of the Birds Reports and conservation efforts by Audubon Chapters across the country, along with policy initiatives from the local level to the White House,

CRAFTING A SPECTACULAR COMEBACK

Thirty-eight years ago, Atlantic Puffins were nearly gone from Maine's rocky coastal islands. Now, after decades of tireless efforts to rebuild, nurture, and monitor their colonies, Audubon staff and volunteers have the puffins back and thriving. The innovative techniques pioneered by Project Puffin are now being used to restore other seabirds on islands around the globe.

GET INVOLVED!

We face more environmental challenges today than ever before, from global warming to unprecedented habitat loss. It will take each of us working together to provide our children and grandchildren with healthy lands, clean air and water, as well as the chance to be inspired by abundant and diverse birds and wildlife. Here are some ways you can make a lasting conservation difference with Audubon:

Become a citizen scientist and monitor bird populations through the Great Backyard or Christmas Bird Counts. These annual counts provide vital scientific data to guide conservation plans and priorities.

Enroll as an Audubon activist and help shape public policy to protect our natural resources and wildlife habitat.

Make your lifestyle more environmentally friendly with resources and tools from the Audubon At Home program.

Visit an Audubon Center or Sanctuary and learn about your local birds and wildlife,

and what you can do to protect them.

Volunteer with local Chapters to help restore or protect an Important Bird Area that provides critical habitat for birds and other wildlife near you.

Join Audubon and support the work of our conservation network across America and around the world.
